IONIS was born in the hills of the Itria Valley between the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea where we talk about trulli, ancient farmhouses, vineyards, wines and baroque art where tradition merges with a glorious food and wine heritage.
Salento is a land famous for its wine culture that Italy and Western Europe have been able to know and appreciate by purchasing enormous quantities of wine over time.
Today, the culture of wine has changed in step with the changing generations, as wine is drunk differently, at different times and certainly with a palate, that of consumers, increasingly demanding and gradually refining and perfecting. Over the years, therefore, the demand for wine could not help but change, leaning towards higher quality wines.
The company was founded by Dr. Giulio Palmisano (Winemaker) in the mid-70s, and after forty years of experience in the wine sector, with national and international commercial relationships , both as a wine consultant and as an exporter of bulk wine, in 2008, thanks also to the support of his sons, Sergio and Mauro, the “IONIS” brand was created to continue the company with the ambitious project of bottling and marketing the best wines of Salento .
After careful and accurate vinification, Ionis further select the products, assigning to the refinement and subsequent bottling those that best reflect the physical-chemical and sensorial characteristics that ensure the duration of the wine over time.
The numerous labels offered include the native vines characteristic of Salento: Verdeca , Primitivo DOP and IGT, Negroamaro, Salice Salentino DOP .
